To collect biological and fisheries information onboard commercial fishing vessels and present it in required electronic format for subsequent uploading to the Departmental databases.Fisheries Observers will be required to spend periods of up to five weeks at sea to collect biological and other data on ships fishing in Falkland waters. Applicants should have a minimum of a BSc or equivalent in a relevant subject. The capacity to write detailed and comprehensive reports using appropriate software is essential, as is the ability to issue and understand written and verbal instructions. The post holder should be able to work effectively as part of a team or alone, have a good eye for detail, possess good decision-making skills and have the capacity to take a leading role in biological sampling
