About the Role

As our company grows, we’re seeing more people than ever getting in touch with us from all four corners of the globe. Based in our office, your main goal will be to grow our international sales by speaking with people around the world using phone and video conferencing technology. With life-changing experiences on offer, there’s no cold calling or need to hard sell. Instead, you’ll take a confident and consultative approach, helping each traveller plan, book and realise the ideal trip for their dreams and ambitions.

Working as part of the sales and marketing team, you’ll also provide first-rate after-sales support and assist with a variety of marketing activities, from speaking at live events to posting on our social media channels.

Our training programme will enable you to help travellers plan a trip that perfectly suits their conservation aspirations. It will also provide you with our environmental and conservation insights. In addition to being the trusted conservation guide for prospective individual or groups of travellers, the ideal candidate could step up and expand their role – taking up the mantle of our social media guru, or becoming the face of African Conservation Experience at events and talks.

Combining your knowledge of our life-changing projects with the environmental and conservation expertise that you’ll develop, you’ll excite travellers with an in-depth insight into what to expect when travelling, whilst providing the reassurance of the African Conservation Experience brand.

Job Progression

We’re a small company but are constantly expanding and have big ambitions for the future. We are looking for entrepreneurial team members who can develop and shape this new role within the company.

About African Conservation Experience

Founded in 1999, we are southern Africa’s original conservation travel company. Headquartered in the UK with full-time teams on the ground in South Africa, we play an active role in creating a brighter future for Africa’s wildlife through organising conservation travel experiences. We do this by embedding ourselves in the region’s conservation community, providing equipment, money and guidance to projects and even pioneering our own where needed. This conservation-first approach makes us a different breed to online booking agents. It’s also one of the many reasons why thousands of people around the world have enjoyed an unforgettable experience travelling with us.

Job requirements

  • Experience or knowledge of the travel industry and sales is desirable but not a deal-breaker – full tailored training plans are provided for everyone.
  • You’re comfortable organising and managing your own time in a self-reliant manner without the need to be micromanaged. At the same time, you understand the importance of working methodically and strategically towards the shared goal of an organisation.
  • You have experience working in an office environment and are proficient on either Mac or PC platforms.
  • You have working knowledge of social media channels. It would be a bonus if you are familiar with Google apps and website CMS.
  • You have a university degree or equivalent.
  • You have a valid driving licence.
  • We will consider applications from graduates, who are quick learners with bags of enthusiasm and looking to start their career by hitting the ground running.

The successful candidate will show potential in these three key criteria:

  1. Thriving in a sales environment. You are able to demonstrate that you thrive in a sales environment and can speak confidently to clients, leading them to commit to a trip that is perfect for them.
  2. Skills beyond sales. As a seasonal business with a relatively small team, it’s important you feel comfortable stepping outside your core sales role and getting involved with everything from marketing to admin and sharing insights with the wider team.
  3. Enthusiasm for conserving the natural world. Whilst you don’t need any specific qualifications in this area, a genuine interest in the natural world is essential to engage in successful sales conversations.
