DESCRIPTION The Institute of Marine Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for the Coastal Modeler. Under the direction of Drs. Michael Beck and Borja Reguero, and in collaboration with the US Geological Survey (Dr. Curt Storlazzi), the Coastal Modeler will model risks due to storms and sea-level rise in coral reef environments. The successful applicant will develop and run model simulations for coastal hazard mitigation and ecosystem restoration scenarios. They will assemble and synthesize hydrodynamic, geologic, and ecologic data sets (both field- and model-based) for inclusion in an integrated spatial prioritization of sites where coral reefs protect adjacent human communities. The Coastal Modeler will work with a team of researchers from UCS
