Description The University of Montana Bird Ecology Lab (UMBEL) is hiring two experienced field technicians to measure ecological response to conifer removal in high elevation sagebrush habitats of southwestern Montana. This project is located near Dillon, MT in some of the wildest and most scenic montane landscapes in the region, and is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a large multi-partner sagebrush conservation effort. Duties include vegetation sampling, including line-point-intercept transects, point-quarter tree counts, photo point documentation, and data entry. The field season extends from mid-May to August. Salary range is $13-15 per hour DOE. Shared housing will be available, but some primitive camping without phone service or facilities will also be required. We provide
