The purpose of the maintenance program at the refuge is to establish and maintain refuge infrastructure, visitor amenities and wildlife habitat and to further implement the 8 standards of excellence for urban wildlife refuges, while preparing the participant for a career with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service as a Maintenance Technician. Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge has an ongoing need for additional support in the maintenance program to complete a wide array of projects that advance the refuge's mission to create a space for wildlife and people.
