During this term, the ACE member will have the opportunity to learn about different careers in the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and assist the Visitor Services Manager with program coordination and development. The member will mentor interns and volunteers in duties to educate the public about the importance of shorebird habitat, focusing on the piping plover, and to gain voluntary compliance with current shorebird protection rules.  This position will also provide support to the refuge volunteer program, operation of the visitor center, interpretive programming, and community outreach activities. The member will be supervised by the Visitor Services Manager and will be expected to carry out work independently and as part of a small team.
