Do you have a love the natural world and enjoy providing great customer service? Do you have good knowledge of UK wildlife and are confident and enthusiastic in communicating about it? Are you looking to build your skills in the conservation sector? If so we’d like to hear from you!

This role will be supporting the RSPB’s Supporter Services Wildlife team in the delivery of their work to inspire current and potential supporters. We are looking for someone who has a passion for utilising their wildlife and conservation knowledge in order to deliver great customer service across a number of communication channels.

You would have some great opportunities to learn more about nature first hand and be part of the amazing RSPB Wildlife team working to save nature. It will also include: • Responding to enquiries sent by supporters and other members of the public via telephone, email, letters, and other customer service methods. • Log all calls, emails, letters and other enquiries through our Wildlife Enquiries Logging System. •

Utilise and develop bird identification skills to support answering enquiries. • Help support RSPB campaigns and events through interactions with our supporters and public. • Reply to email and letters sent to Wildlife team after publication of Nature’s Home magazine. • Support other internal departments such as trading and the web team to promote RSPB tools and products.

Good knowledge of wildlife and conservation Confident, friendly and polite phone and written manner Effective communication skills Ability to actively listen to others Ability to use your initiative Good researching skills Computer literate Organised with attention to detail Enthusiasm The RSPB runs an inclusive volunteer internship scheme, so whether you have just graduated, finished your A Levels and looking for voluntary experience in your gap year or you are looking for a change of career paths we welcome your application. However, we do ask that you meet the following requirements: You must: be 18 years old or over be available for 3 months or more have achieved GCSE’s or equivalent be IT literate

Your time

Minimum: 2 to 3 days a week. 9am to 5.15pm
Duration: 6 months
Period: October to March, and April to October

Our internships are designed to offer work experience. However, doing an internship does not, unfortunately, guarantee future employment with the RSPB. Interns are welcome to apply for our paid vacancies, but for obvious reasons, an intern would need to have proven themselves in their current role before their volunteering experience will assist an application for a paid post.

All the training necessary and background information will be provided and since you’ll be giving up your time, it’s only fair that we offer to re-imburse your travel expenses (up to 25 miles). The RSPB speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. We rely upon memberships and donations to fund our work.
