Founded in 1903, Fauna & Flora International (FFI) is the world’s longest established international conservation organisation. Our vision is to create a sustainable future for the planet where biodiversity is conserved by the people living closest to it. We aim to do this through the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs. We have become a trusted entity in the world of conservation. Today FFI is active in over 40 countries.

FFI is seeking an enthusiastic intern with an interest in marine plastics to assist with desk-based research of plastic ingredients in personal care and cosmetic products. This research forms part of the Good Scrub Guide initiative and will help to inform monitoring of the UK’s recent microbead ban. We are looking for an intern to commit ideally to a minimum of a four week internship based in Cambridge, starting as soon as possible. During this period, the intern’s activities will focus on the following:

  1. Researching personal care product ingredients;
  2. Conducting basic analyses on these ingredient lists;
  3. Assisting with possible in-store research.

Applicants should have experience with Microsoft Excel and large databases, ability to work autonomously, and excellent English language skills. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are equally important. The volunteer will work alongside FFI staff in Cambridge.
