Overview

Travel to South Africa, help protect wild animals and their habitats and gather valuable hands-on experience in nature and species conservation as part of an international volunteer team and instructed by skilled conservationists.

Details

The wildlife conservation project in South Africa’s northern province Limpopo aims at securing the protection of wild animals and ecosystems with the support of international volunteers, teaching them about the essential role of conservation work.

Volunteers will be involved in replacing and analyzing camera traps, monitoring cheetahs and other wildlife, researching the local leopard population, helping with transects and generating ecological and bird surveys. Experienced researchers will instruct and support you and your team all the time.

Your day starts in the early morning and ends in the late afternoon. After conducting intense research in the field, surrounded by South Africa’s wild animal and plant life, and updating the project’s database, you and your team make your way back to your accommodation. Here you can enjoy dinner and get some rest.

Accommodation

Together with your team members you are accommodated in a volunteer house with shared bedrooms, shared bathrooms, a kitchen and an outdoor area. You’ll receive food items so you can prepare your daily. Wifi is also available – sometimes it may be very slow, though.

As an undergraduate or post graduate student of a related field, you also get the chance to work on your own research thesis while being involved in the project. Become active in protecting endangered species and experience an unforgettable volunteer adventure in South Africa’s wilderness!
