Location: London (UK), you will be ideally based in London or able to travel and work in London regularly to help with the delivery of workshops where required, but some work can also be carried out remotely.

Hourly rate: £12.50 per hour

Hours: Part-time, 16 hours per week – potential for more if required by the role

As Education Programme Co-ordinator you will work closely with our Founder & Director, Laura. You will be responsible for facilitating the delivery of our school workshops, our volunteer recruitment, training and development procedures, as well as some central organisational processes.

To fulfil this role, it’s important that you are detail-orientated, have a passion for environmental education and working with children, and be ready to balance both team and organisational needs. As Programme Coordinator, you will support the organisation to ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes; from onboarding new volunteers, to liaising with schools and charity partners, collating feedback and writing reports, and conducting research where necessary.

As Volunteers For Future grows, the needs of this role may adapt. We’re looking for someone keen to take on evolving responsibilities and who can be self-directed. This person will be key to helping shape the organisation as we continue to grow and will be an integral member of the team.

Volunteer Recruitment & Co-ordination

  • Lead on the delivery of volunteer recruitment, which includes marketing volunteer opportunities, reviewing applications, and applicant communication.
  • Support Laura in the on-boarding of new volunteers, which includes scheduling online meetings, providing and obtaining all necessary documentation and organising volunteer training.
  • Act as the first point of call for volunteer enquiries and engagement, which means communicating directly with all our volunteers on a regular basis, ensuring that we are providing them with a positive and worthwhile experience.
  • Help to foster a supportive volunteer community by producing a monthly volunteer newsletter and organising our volunteer social get-together (mostly virtual) every two months.

School Support & Co-ordination

  • Spearheading the marketing of workshops to different schools and youth groups, with targeted efforts around areas where our volunteers are based.
  • Liaise with schools and volunteers to co-ordinate the effective delivery of school workshops, scheduling times which fit in with teacher timetables and volunteer availability.
  • Support with the delivery of our school workshops where necessary, which will include delivering workshops both in-person and online over Zoom or Teams to young people.
  • Ensure that both schools and volunteers have all the information required in advance of workshops, e.g. PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, and logistical information.
  • Obtain teacher and volunteer feedback post workshop delivery, acknowledge and thank everyone for their time and build positive relationships with schools.

Partnership Development

  • Support with potential partner development and other business support, including but not limited to: report writing, keeping operational documents up-to-date, supporting in meetings.

Experience

This is an early career role, and we are looking for someone with 1-3 years’ experience in a professional environment. You must be confident and comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint along with collaboration tools such as Google Drive/Docs, Trello etc – we also highly value anyone with Canva design skills!

You must either hold or be willing to undertake a DBS check.

In turn, we will mentor you and help with further developing your personal and professional skills. Passion for the environment and a growth mindset are key!

We will provide full training, particularly with workshop delivery. We’re not looking for an expert in all areas, but someone willing and motivated to learn on the job; who is invested in the long-term success of Volunteers For Future as a mission-driven organisation.
