The Mitigation Program Wildlife Biologist initiates, oversees, implements, and evaluates a variety of actions designed to offset fish and wildlife losses caused by hydropower construction and operation of Hungry Horse Dam in the Flathead River watershed and the Libby Dam in the Kootenai River watershed. They are responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating on-the-ground activities that maintain and restore productive fish and wildlife populations and habitat. All actions must be consistent with the NPCC's Columbia Basin Fish and Wildlife Program and Flathead Subbasin Plan, the Endangered Species Act, the Montana and National Environmental Policy Acts, and other applicable state and federal laws.
