The mission of the National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) System is to “administer a national network of lands and waters for the conservation and management of fish, wildlife, and plant resources of the United States for the benefit of present and future generations.” The mission of Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge is to restore and maintain ecosystem processes that provide for a natural diversity of flora and fauna native to the Channeled Scablands of Eastern Washington. Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge is one of more than 550 refuges managed by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Refuges are specifically managed for wildlife and their habitat.
