Agriculture’s footprint and the associated habitat loss from expanding the footprint of
food constitutes the biggest environmental threat to our planet and its biodiversity. To
meet global food security needs as well as the food demands of an increasingly wealthy
global population, we will need to increase productivity and efficiency as well as reduce
Food Loss and Waste (FLW). Agricultural systems and consumption patterns must exist
in a regenerative relationship with nature if we are to correct the resource imbalances on
the planet. Eliminating food loss and waste in food systems, from farm-to-plate, repre-
sents one of the most significant opportunities to establish sustainable and regenerative
food systems.
