This project aims to increase the sustainability of fishing activities, and ultimately contribute to food security and poverty alleviation in South West Indian Ocean states. One aspect, which requires further scrutiny in the Indian ocean region, is the remaining unregulated fishing. With no applicable regulations and no conservation and management measures governing emerging fisheries the issue of unregulated fishing needs to be raised and tackled.
