Mission of the Department: Tigers Alive is the initiative of WWF established to support the global goal of doubling the number of wild tigers by 2022. At the heart of Tigers Alive is tiger population recovery. Efforts underway in all of the focal landscapes are aimed at providing the conditions for rapid recovery of tiger populations. This position is therefore a critical point of inspiration and leverage both internally within WWF but also externally where efforts are also slowly turning away from the defensive approach to conservation. Tigers Alive is an international WWF program working to ensure thriving, viable wild tiger populations in priority landscapes, to establish tiger conservation as a political priority and eliminate the trade in tiger parts and products.
