AmeriCorps YES members will be responsible for removing invasive species on 24 acres, planting native plant species on the land, building trails to make the land accessible to the public, and organizing 11 community events with 200 people to educate the public on how to better care for the earth. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 220 volunteers who will be engaged in environmental stewardship activities. Members in the YES program will serve 900 hours over the course of 10 months. Members will receive a $9,000 stipend ($900 paid monthly) and $3,447.50 education award upon successful completion of the program, which can be used to repay qualified student loans and to pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions of higher education and training programs.
