Veterinary surgeon with a background in small animal and feline practice and a Master degree in conservation medicine. Eight months practical experience working as a volunteer vet with primates and other indigenous Central African wildlife in Cameroon. Desire to move into a career in conservation science. Strong interests in wildlife medicine, One Health and zoonotic diseases, emerging infectious diseases, species conservation (particularly primates, carnivores and wild cats) and wildlife crime.

• Achieved an overall high distinction.
• Part time, online distance learning course in conservation medicine with electives in zoonotic diseases, wildlife crime and forensic investigations, assisted reproductive technologies in threatened species and ex situ wildlife management. Also courses in wildlife management and health, veterinary techniques and interventions in wildlife, species conservation and threats and human-wildlife conflicts.
• Arranged and carried out all aspects of the dissertation research, from planning, through coordinating and executing data collection to data analysis. Collaborated with several institutions, businesses and organizations. Presently writing up findings for publication.

Limbe Wildlife Centre

July 2015 - February 2016 Volunteer veterinarian

• Full time volunteer as a veterinary surgeon at a wildlife sanctuary in Cameroon, working with 16 species of indigenous primates, as well as other mammals, reptiles and birds rescued or confiscated from the illegal pet or bush meat trade.
• Obtained invaluable hands-on experience with wild animal anaesthesia, surgery and medicine. Proficient with darting using blowpipe and dart pistol.
• Responsible for organising and maintaining all the clinical records for the centre’s 300 animals and took on responsibility to create an improved and complete recording system to help manage all the preventative healthcare aspects for the centre.
• Responsible for teaching local veterinary students, organising tutorials, practicals and assessments.

The Cat Clinic

January 2013 - April 2015 Senior Veterinary Surgeon

Sole charge senior veterinary surgeon in a feline only clinic. Led a small team of nursing and support staff and established several best practice protocols for the clinic. Appointed First Aider. Developed a solid knowledge base and skill set in feline medicine, surgery and dentistry. Also developed excellent time-management skills when balancing post-graduate studies and clinical work.
