Description

This position supports NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management, focusing on coastal resilience and restoration across the Great Lakes. The role combines policy implementation, technical coordination, and stakeholder engagement to strengthen coastal communities and support habitat and water quality initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of Coastal Zone Management Act programs
  • Coordinate with Coastal Zone Management Programs and federal project leads
  • Review and manage cooperative agreements and grant activities
  • Conduct environmental compliance reviews and post-award actions
  • Analyze grant performance measures and recommend approvals
  • Support program evaluations and development of management plans
  • Provide subject matter expertise on coastal management, habitat, and water quality
  • Identify and communicate program successes and partnership opportunities
  • Facilitate collaboration across coastal programs and partner organizations
  • Coordinate habitat restoration, water quality, and green infrastructure initiatives
  • Participate in regional and program team meetings
  • Provide technical and grants management support for restoration projects
  • Document regional needs for coastal restoration planning
  • Coordinate with partners to align projects with NOAA services
  • Attend and contribute to regional meetings and workgroups

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in environmental policy, marine policy, or related field
  • Three years of relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge of coastal zone management and Coastal Zone Management Act
  • Experience with climate resilience and nature-based solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively
  • Ability to pass federal background checks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal environmental planning and policy programs
  • Knowledge of Tribal governments in the Great Lakes region
  • Experience in stakeholder outreach and engagement
  • Experience facilitating meetings and collaborative processes
  • Experience supporting technical and public outreach meetings
