Description

A research training opportunity is currently available at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Center for Environmental Economics Division in the Office of Policy and Regulatory Management, located at the EPA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The participant will have the opportunity to collaborate with NCEE’s team of economists on research projects that advance the agency’s ability to conduct analysis on the costs, benefits, and economic impacts of environmental policies and programs.

Research Projects

  • Improving capacity to account for economic impacts of environmental policies, including economy-wide impacts using computable general equilibrium modeling.
  • Evaluating impact of regulations on labor market outcomes (employment, wages, occupational shifts).
  • Supporting evaluation of EPA grant programs under the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act.
  • Improving quantification and monetization of health and ecosystem benefits of regulations.

Learning Objectives

Participants may learn about and contribute to research on regulatory impacts, empirical labor market analysis, statistical techniques for grant evaluation, and modeling for water quality benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in economics, statistics, or public policy (received within past five years or by 8/17/2026). Multiple courses in economics required. Preferred: solid microeconomics understanding, strong quantitative skills, experience with R/Python/STATA/Julia or AI tools.
