Field Technician

SUMMARY

SNP is looking for new crew members to join our Olympia-area team in support of native habitat restoration.

Field Technicians will work in small groups performing vegetation maintenance and a wide variety of habitat restoration and maintenance activities, including weed control, mulching, and planting.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ecological restoration, landscaping, or horticulture experience a plus. We have a strong preference for candidates with backgrounds in planting, plant identification, and herbicide application or prior outdoor physical labor work and slope/ropes experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Ability to learn and identify native plants and invasive weeds.
  • Ability to carry out hard physical labor in all weather conditions.
  • Maintenance of physical fitness level to perform job tasks such as: lifting and carrying 50 lbs., crouching, bending, standing, and walking for 8-10 hours each day over rough, uneven or slippery terrain and in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to proficiently, safely, and properly utilize equipment and power tools.
  • Access to reliable transportation to meet at pickup or site locations.

JOB TYPES & TIMELINE

We are offering full-time, part-time, and temporary positions. We are seeking folks to begin training this spring, possibly sooner. We will accommodate new crew-member schedules as much as we are able to.
