Mō te tūranga | About the role

You will deliver conservation outcomes across the biodiversity, heritage and visitor, and community work programmes. This is a largely field based role, where you’ll contribute directly to protecting native species, maintaining sites and facilities, supporting community conservation, and helping ensure visitors have safe and meaningful experiences on public conservation land.

The position will be focussed on:

  • delivering biodiversity field work, including monitoring and pest control

  • delivering heritage and visitor work field work, including site and track maintenance

  • working closely with volunteers and community groups

  • promoting the value of conservation by lifting awareness and educating others

If you have some of the following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • practical skillset with experience in conservation field work, such as species monitoring, pest control, or restoration work

  • a broad knowledge of conservation issues and practices in Aotearoa

  • experience and competence in the outdoors

  • a collaborative approach, with a desire to support others and promote conservation

  • strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people

  • a full driver's license

The salary range for this position is $60,703 to $66,911 with the starting salary of the successful applicant based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
