Role Overview
The Jemseg Grand Lake Watershed Association is currently seeking expressions of interest for the volunteer position of Treasurer. The Treasurer plays a key role in supporting the financial health and transparency of the Association and works closely with the Board and project leads throughout the year.
The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project budgeting, and ensuring timely reporting and grant administration. The anticipated time commitment for this role is approximately 4–5 hours per month, with some flexibility depending on reporting and grant deadlines.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
The successful volunteer should be able to:
- Have accounting experience and be familiar with accounting software and/or spreadsheet software (e.g. Excel)
- Have access to scanning technology and be able to print and combine documents in PDF format
- Assist with project budgeting
- Record membership, third-party, and grant revenue using accounting software or spreadsheets
- Become a bank co-signing officer and monitor account activity online on a regular basis
- Record expenses and process invoice payments via Electronic Fund Transfer or cheque, coordinating payments with a co-signing officer
- Reconcile the bank account on a monthly basis
- Prepare a monthly financial statement and present highlights at general meetings
- Prepare and submit multiple grant claims online throughout the year, including PDF copies of invoices and proof of payment
- Follow up on queries from grant staff as required
