“Fundraising is critical to mission success” – SAVE THE FROGS! Founder
Can you imagine fundraising during your work as a conservationist; raising the vital money needed to save wildlife and habitats?
We asked professional conservation fundraisers what their favourite part of the job is to help you picture a day in the life of a fundraiser. Here’s what they had to say…
“For me, conservation fundraising is about intelligent project design, creative proposal writing, and building long-term partnerships with like-minded people working for civil society organisations and donor agencies.”
All of that keeps the ‘fun’ in ‘fundraising’, and helps to achieve actual conservation impacts – which is of course the ultimate aim.” – Maaike Maanten, Freelance fundraiser and trainer | BirdLife International, Conservation Leadership Programme.
“No project is impossible to fund when there is the right conservation idea behind it!”
In my career, I have mostly worked in wild animal conservation, especially in the Italian Alps. For this reason, I am particularly sensitive to the most complex projects, those that represent the ultimate challenge: reintroductions of extinct animal species.”
After decades of planning and rethinking, the European Union … gave financial resources to avoid the disappearance of the last brown bears from the Italian Alps. The result is that today there are more than 100 brown bears in the Central Alps!” – Filippo Zibordi, mountainous ecosystem and large carnivore expert, specialized in protected area management and awareness raising, supporting NGOs and public administrations. Co-founder at Environmental Grants.
“Fundraising is critical to mission success, and fortunately there are always funders waiting to donate to worthy projects.”
SAVE THE FROGS! has received grants from a large number of organizations, but the fundraising success I am most proud of is building a website (savethefrogs.com) that works 24/7/365 educating and inspiring visitors, and providing them with a simple way to donate to SAVE THE FROGS!, ensuring we always have funds available for our projects of greatest need.” – SAVE THE FROGS! Founder Dr Kerry Kriger.
