PURPOSE

This Education Assistant is an AmeriCorps position contributing to science outreach objectives for Denali National Park and Preserve. The participant will help share park science with 600,000+ in-person and virtual visitors.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Create inspiring, digestible, and interactive materials engaging visitors with current park science and stewardship messages. Instruct indoor and outdoor education programs for youth and assist with visitor center services.

DELIVERABLES

Complete one or more science communication projects (exhibits, reports, Junior Ranger activities, website content, photography/videography, social media) and co-instruct youth programs including multi-day outdoor camps and distance learning programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to complete National Service Criminal History Check and government background check
  • Available for entire 36-week term

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in science communication, interpretation, education, or journalism
  • Strong written communication and digital media skills
  • Outdoor education and customer service experience
  • Passion for making science relevant to youth aged 5-20
