Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our peatland restoration programme in Eryri and play a role in delivering several large projects.

Description

As part of our busy and dynamic team, you’ll support the surveying of damaged peatlands, prepare restoration plans and mapping, monitor restoration work, and assist with communication, education and administrative tasks. We’d love to hear from you if you enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions and also have experience in desk-based work. You’ll be confident using IT and able to communicate with enthusiasm, sound judgement and diplomacy, both written and verbal. With multiple projects and workstreams running at the same time, strong organisation, common-sense problem solving and the ability to respond to changing circumstances at short notice are essential.

Working with our farming tenants and graziers, colleagues, partners and local communities, you’ll represent the National Trust and help deliver our strategic goal – people and nature thriving.

This is a fixed-term contract until the end of February 2028.

Internally, this role is known as Assistant Land Use & Nature Delivery Partner.

You’ll be part of the National Trust Wales Nature Recovery team, supporting Eryri properties to care for special places for everyone, for ever. With a focus on the Migneint area, this project delivers key national objectives to restore important designated sites and create a resilient upland landscape where nature and people can thrive.

What you’ll be doing

Working as part of the Uwch Conwy Project team and alongside key partners, you’ll collaborate with property teams and Nature Recovery specialists.

  • Peatland restoration will be a key focus, leading on restoration activity
  • Engaging with schools using outdoor spaces as a learning environment
  • Supporting volunteering opportunities within local communities

Who we’re looking for

  • Practical environmental professional with experience managing contractors
  • Strong understanding of nature conservation, particularly peatlands in Wales
  • Adaptable with the ability to make decisions and drive projects forward
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Welsh is essential
  • Full UK driving licence required
