As part of our Resource Programs, you'll travel across the province, gaining hands-on field experience and working alongside a passionate team. What You'll Be Doing
- Travel throughout Alberta from May to August
- Work in dynamic outdoor environments, including remote and rugged terrain
- Collect, record, and maintain accurate field data
- Collaborate with team members in both field and camp settings
- Interact professionally with the public and partner organizations
What to Expect
- Long and sometimes irregular hours
- Physically demanding work
- Exposure to changing and sometimes adverse weather conditions
Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of a degree or diploma in Biology, Conservation Sciences, or Natural Resources
- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to read maps and use navigation tools (compass, GPS)
- Good computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word)
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (driver’s abstract required prior to start date)
Additional Assets
- ATV operation experience
- Camping, fishing, and/or boating experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and data recording accuracy
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
- Current certifications: Standard First Aid with CPR, WHMIS, and Defensive Driving
- Experience with GIS, and data entry
- Background in hunting, fishing, ranching, or farming
Salary: $21.00 – $22.50 per hour for all positions

MULTIPLE SPECIES AT RISK (MULTISAR) – WILDLIFE
Position number: W2026-003
Term: May – August 2026 (possibility of extension)
Location: Lethbridge, AB
Number of Positions: 2
Position Responsibilities
- Conducting early morning (driving to the site prior to sunrise) surveys for grassland/riparian/forest birds on pre-selected properties in southern Alberta, such as the Porcupine Hills. As a lot of the work in 2026 will be focused on the southeast corner of Alberta, past experience and a good understanding of grassland/riparian/forest birds and how to ID them from sight and sound is crucial. A bird ID quiz will be administered during the interview.
- Completing surveys for sharp-tailed grouse, bats, amphibians, greater short-horned lizards, and snake hibernacula.
- Working extensive field shifts that may involve field or remote camps; therefore, being comfortable living and working outdoors is important.
- Assisting the range agrologist with detailed vegetation inventories, range health assessments (native and tame), and forest health assessments on properties.
- Compiling, entering, and safely storing data.
- Assisting other Wildlife projects and Program areas as needed.
- Maintaining vehicles and equipment in accordance with policies and maintenance records.
- Adhering to ACA Health and Safety protocols.
FISH INVENTORY SURVEYS – RIVER CREEL

Position Responsibilities
- Conducting angler creel surveys on lotic waterbodies.
- Working field shifts that will include weekends and evenings.
- Interacting with the public.
- Assisting with installation and maintenance of trail camera equipment.
- Compiling, entering and safely storing field data.
- Working in all weather conditions.
- Working closely with a colleague.
- Assisting other Fisheries projects and Program areas as needed.
- Maintaining vehicles and equipment in accordance with policies and maintenance records.
- Adhering to ACA Health and Safety protocols.
FISH INVENTORY SURVEYS – STREAM SURVEYS

Term: May – August 2026
Location: Lethbridge, AB
Number of Positions: 1
Position Responsibilities
- Waterfall fish barrier measurement and habitat data collection
- Working field shifts that will include weekends and evenings.
- Interacting with the public.
- Assisting with installation and maintenance of trail camera equipment.
- Compiling, entering and safely storing field data.
- Working in all weather conditions.
- Working closely with a colleague.
- Assisting other Fisheries projects and Program areas as needed.
- Maintaining vehicles and equipment in accordance with policies and maintenance records.
- Operating an ATV and Electrofishing
- Adhering to ACA Health and Safety protocols.
FISH INVENTORY SURVEYS – LAKE NETTING

- Gill netting and fish sampling
- Working field shifts that will include weekends and evenings.
- Interacting with the public.

- Working in all weather conditions.
- Working closely with a colleague.
- Assisting other Fisheries projects and Program areas as needed.
- Maintaining vehicles and equipment in accordance with policies and maintenance records.
- Safe operation of small watercraft.
- Adhering to ACA Health and Safety protocols.
