The Young Researcher Award in GIScience seeks to encourage young scientists in the fields of Geoinformatics or Geographic Information Science at an early stage of their careers by providing public recognition for outstanding achievements.

Submission

The prize can be shared among up to three scientists aged 35 under for publications that have advanced the development of the fields of Geoinformatics or Geographic Information Science. For career pathways deserving special considerations (e.g. interruptions to provide care etc.), the age restriction is raised to 40. Submissions by scientists worldwide are welcome.

Selection

The prize winners are selected by an awards committee set up by the Commission for GIScience of the OeAW.
