Area West Environmental, Inc. is an environmental consulting firm in the Sacramento area seeking to fill a full-time Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Preparing project graphics: obtaining special data from a variety of different sources and developing and managing associated databases; preparing field maps and map-based report graphics; digitizing aerial and hand-drawn images; processing basic spatial analysis and running statistical calculations; performing cartographic functions in GIS; designing, creating, and maintaining geodatabases; converting and managing CAD files in a GIS environment; modeling of natural environment and project‐related features based on CAD/GIS base layers to characterize si
