Overview

Responsibilities:

Create opportunities to present Pew’s position on topics related to the implementation of the reformed Common Fisheries Policy in France. Devise and implement strategies to advance Pew’s fisheries policy objectives and produce materials including policy recommendations and public consultation submissions. Advocate Pew’s fisheries policy objectives at conferences, hearings, stakeholder meetings and other relevant opportunities. Manage such activities as agreed by the Project Director of the Ending Overfishing in Northwestern Europe project.

Analyze and comment as required on communications and positions from the French government, Regional Advisory Councils, the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), and other relevant bodies. Prepare policy statements and policy-oriented campaign papers, press releases and other materials in a timely fashion.

Follow the process of setting fishing limits for EU fish stocks and the development of Multi-Annual Plans for fisheries management and develop plans for effective engagement. Prepare position papers and proactively contribute to the processes.
Liaise with relevant Pew staff and external fisheries scientists and scientific bodies to encourage and facilitate their input into EU fisheries policy and management.

Represent Pew at national and regional meetings and events where fisheries policies are being discussed, particularly in selected advisory councils, and other relevant public events, at the request of the Project Director of Ending Overfishing in Northwestern Europe.
Act as a spokesperson for Pew when appropriate.

Support partner non-governmental organizations, or NGOs, and organizations with which we collaborate.
