Exciting Opportunity with Earth Systems!

With offices in UK, Australia, China, Lao PDR, Senegal and Rwanda, Earth Systems is a growing environmental and sustainability consulting group that is seeking a highly motivated, ambitious fauna ecologist who is passionate about their work. 

This is a great opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to help develop and grow Earth Systems and work internationally. Base office location can be selected from any of the following Earth Systems offices- Australia (Melbourne), UK (Bristol), Senegal (Dakar) or Rwanda (Kigali). 

Earth Systems develops and implements innovative and effective environmental, water, energy and sustainability solutions, providing specialist advice and hands-on capabilities in a diverse range of areas related to environmental management. Ecological assessment is a key aspect of many of Earth Systems’ projects.

We are currently seeking to employ a senior specialist ecologist with international experience in ecological impact assessment to join our team and help develop and expand our business. In this role you will be responsible for working on projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients overseas. There are opportunities for people with a few years of experience through to senior partnership level.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a relevant post-graduate qualification (PhD or DPhil or equivalent);
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience with fauna ecology/wildlife conservation, including direct experience in ecological impact assessment;
  • Be able to undertake fieldwork overseas on a regular basis;
  • Have experience working on international ecology projects (preferably within West and East Africa and Southeast Asia);
  • Have experience of managing an in-country sub-consultant team;
  • Have experience of reporting in accordance with IFC PS6;
  • Be able to demonstrate leadership capabilities across the spectrum of their responsibilities;
  • Be able to identify and develop new opportunities for Earth Systems;
  • Have the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Have exceptional written and verbal English language communication skills; and
  • Be passionate about the environment.

Previous international experience in EIA and environmental management/approvals in relation to infrastructure, resources and other large scale projects will be highly regarded and other language capabilities, particularly French,  would be an advantage. Experience with biodiversity offsets and/or primate conservation is also desirable.

The position will be located in the selected base office, with significant opportunities to work overseas. An attractive salary package will be provided depending on experience.
