What is CECCOT? The Tambopata Center for Education, Science and Conservation (CECCOT is the acronym in Spanish) is a non-profit non-governmental organization established in 2006 in Madre de Dios, Peru. CECCOT’s core goals are to promote conservation of tropical biodiversity and research, and to offer training opportunities for ecological research and sustainable livelihoods in the Peruvian Amazonia, in particular in the Madre de Dios region. In 2016, CECCOT developed a vital and exciting partnership with a local family, Torres-Herrera. Together, we continue to develop and grow a cooperative organization in which worldwide conservationists and local families join efforts to accomplish common goals: nature conservation, scientific research, environmental education and sustainable
