The research in our organisation focuses on understanding population dynamics of a variety of species, ranging from benthos to fish, marine mammals, birds, and fishing fleet dynamics. We collect field data and use these to improve mathematical and statistical models to gain better understanding of the marine environment and provide ecosystem based fisheries management advice based on cutting-edge science. We carry out much of our research in close cooperation with the fishing industry, including data collection by fishers. We expect the successful candidates to have a strong marine ecology background, affinity with marine data collection, open to working together with fishers, and keen to develop and analyse model output and perform statistical analyses on large data sets.
