Find Out More

During a 7 or 14-day stay in incredible surroundings this course – especially designed for safari newcomers – offers the opportunity to gather rare and memorable insights. You will encounter fauna and flora in their original form in beautiful Botswana, South Africa’s world-popular Kruger National Park or Kenya’s breathtaking Masai Mara.

Details

An EcoQuest is a wonderful chance to experience the exceptional natural landscape of Southern and East Africa at first hand within just a few days. You will not only experience the flora and fauna from up close but get insights into a game ranger’s typical training. For anyone who wants to learn more about nature as a habitat, this course is the right choice. And for everyone who is interested in working in the field, this course provides an excellent introduction to the field guide course.

During your time in Africa, professionally skilled course leaders will guide and support you. They will draw on their wealth of experience to provide you with fascinating insights into life in the wild. Twice a day, you and your group will go on trips through the stunning landscape for a close-up encounter with wildlife. Besides providing valuable information about native animals and their habitats, the expeditions will teach you how to orientate yourself in a natural environment. Explore the magnificent landscape of Botswana and South Africa and unleash your passion for adventure!

Accommodation

For the time of the EcoQuest course in Southern Africa you will be either accommodated in two-man tents (Mashatu, Selati, Karongwe), in stilt houses (Makuleke) or in a wilderness chalet (Mara). If you choose to stay in Makuleke you will have access to your own bathroom attached to the stilt house. In Mashatu, Selati, Karongwe and Mara there are shared bathrooms. All camps have a large lounge for spending evenings with the group, eating together and training. Tourists cannot visit the camps. As the camps are not fenced in, you can experience an extraordinary connection to the natural environment and enjoy the remoteness of your location.

You will be offered an early mid-morning snack, a satisfying brunch, a light lunch and a warm dinner. Fruit juice is provided at mealtimes, and tap water, coffee and tea are available the whole day. Since the camp is not connected to electricity generators are used.

Testimonial

“The entire experience had been spectacular and I would even say life-changing. […] The fact that I could hear the cries of hyenas and incessant calls of birds when sleeping or waking was also something that felt very real and precious, reminding me how authentic an environment I was in.” (Wynne, 29 years)
