Position: Fire Ecology Project Specialist
Organization: Alderville Black Oak Savanna
Location: Alderville First Nation, Ontario (Rice Lake, between Peterborough & Cobourg)
Job Scope:
The Award Winning Alderville Black Oak Savanna hosts the largest remnant of Oak Savanna and Tallgrass Prairie in central Ontario and the Rice Lake Plains. Prescribed burning is a key element of ecological restoration in grassland ecosystems. The Fire Ecology Project Specialist is responsible for developing a Prescribed Burn Adaptation & Management Plan.
This is a 6-month contract, full-time position at 35 hours per week with possibility for extension dependent on funding. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Natural Heritage Coordinator.
