Frankfurt Zoological Society is an international nature conservation organization that coordinates projects in 18 countries. Together we protect biodiversity, the basis of human life. Our partners in the projects on site are local communities, nature conservation authorities, national park administrations and other NGOs.

Chief of Staff – Focus: Change (gn)

Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is embarking on an ambitious ten-year growth strategy to double its conservation impact. To realize this vision, we are introducing the pivotal position of Chief of Staff. You will spearhead the execution of FZS’s global strategy, working closely with the Executive Director and the Senior Leadership team.

While this role doesn’t involve team leadership responsibilities, it offers the chance to make a meaningful impact within our organization.

Your Tasks:

As ​Chief of Staff, you will play an integral role in ensuring ​FZS’s long-term success in safeguarding the world’s most remarkable wilderness areas. As ​a strategic partner for our Senior Leadership Team, you will also engage actively in the implementation and execution of transformational projects, demonstrating a proactive and practical approach.

Main Tasks include:

  • Further develop the plan to move FZS’s ten-year global strategy forward and ensure its execution
  • Closely monitor the progress towards milestones, oversee the critical paths to ensure timely completions of tasks, and ensure efficiency and quality through Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assess and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the organization and for individual projects in collaboration with leadership teams as well as the Monitoring & Evaluation team at HQ
  • Support the departments in taking the necessary development steps for the organization to grow sustainably
  • Consolidate departmental and organizational risk assessments and establish a risk management/tracking system as well as contingency plans
  • Facilitate teamwork, collaboration, and organizational priorities

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Organizational Management, Business Administration, Project Management, Non-Profit Management, or a related field
  • 5 + years experiences in a similar role, preferably in a rapidly growing environment
  • Experience in international non-profit organizations.
  • Strong project management and organizational development skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills especially summarizing and presenting complex matters
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication skills in English; additional languages are beneficial
  • A genuine passion for nature and a strong alignment with FZS’s goals and mission
