Would you like to work in one of the most distinctive landscapes in the country?

This is a unique opportunity to join our exciting project to welcome and engage visitors to Dartmoor through a programme of site-based activities offering inspiring opportunities that engage new and existing audiences. This project will have a particular emphasis on new or first-time visitors; supporting future visits, helping them to connect with nature and the special qualities of Dartmoor National Park.

There are three Community Engagement Ranger positions available, each with a separate specialism including;

  • Youth work / Community Engagement
  • Environmental Education / Citizen Science
  • Outdoor Activities – with a particular emphasis on cycling.

The posts are funded by the Green Recovery Challenge Fund, delivered in partnership with the National Trust, Woodland Trust and SW Lakes Trust, and have ambitious targets that will require the successful candidates to hit the ground running, working as part of a team but equally being self-confident and self-reliant. You will be well organised, an excellent communicator and able to work confidently with a range of people and groups.

Experience of running public engagement events and a demonstrable enthusiasm for working with young people and families, hard to reach groups and inclusion are essential.

The post holder will regularly work with young people, therefore a DBS check will be required.

The post is based at the Authority’s head office at Parke, Bovey Tracey, but will involve travel to other sites within the National Park, including working closely with project Partners.
