Up to 4 positions Fixed-term, full-time position for minimum 12 months with prospects of further employment beyond this term. Hiking New Zealand is a hiking guiding company that through Jobs For Nature funding has redeployed its workforce in nature conservation. This work currently mostly involves predator control in Arthur’s Pass National Park to help protect the the critically endangered kākāriki karaka/orange fronted parakeet, as well as some wilding conifer control in partnership with the Department of Conservation. Long term engagement of the business in the conservation and environmental sectors is planned. The work role involves:
  • Monitoring predator tracking tunnels, checking traps and servicing of trap lines
