BirdLife International seeks to hire a consultant on short-time basis to support the developing of country and Donor profiles in the Energy Sector in Africa. Energy demands in Africa are on the rise also as more people in the continent get educated and strive to increase employment opportunities. The net effect, with guaranteed returns on investment, is the emergence of many power generation and transmission projects and expansion of existing ones across the continent. With energy sector expansion, birds and other taxa such as bats are at a greater risk now more than ever before. Their lives are threatened by collisions with energy infrastructure, electrocution, and degradation or destruction of their habitats
