The program fosters an appreciation for our natural environment by completing hands-on work projects and being immersed in educational opportunities that showcase careers in forestry, wildfire, ecology and other environmental fields. We are currently seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic and outdoor-oriented individuals to lead our JFR crews throughout the province of Alberta. JFR Crew Leaders and Sub Leaders work in pairs and their main responsibility is to supervise a 6 person crew of high school students. All Leaders and Sub Leaders go through two weeks of training at the Hinton Training Centre, followed by four weeks of networking with professionals to fill a summer calendar with a wide range of work projects and educational opportunities.
