Overview

DOB Ecology is a (grantmaking) philanthropy foundation aspiring a healthy planet where ecosystems
and people thrive. The focus is on wetlands and forests in Africa and South America. Strong and healthy
ecosystems are vital ingredients for life, well-being and sustainable development. The mission of DOB
Ecology is to support organizations that work to protect and restore threatened ecosystems and (re)build
the conditions for resilient livelihoods of local communities.

The position

Programmes are developed in co-creation with our recipient organizations (“partners”) and aim to secure
concrete ecological results as well as local community engagement and ownership. Long-term
commitment and a sharp eye for ‘on-the-ground’ implications and results define DOB Ecology’s
approach.

Within the small team you will be responsible for guiding, supporting and monitoring the work of our
partners in Africa and/or South America in selected projects. You build strong and trustful relationships
by being open, eager to learn, available and a reliable, competent partner. You monitor and occasionally
visit partners, seeking to deeply understand their approach and how to best support and strengthen
them in sometimes complex and challenging conditions.

Fully committed to inclusive ecological sustainability, you are able to build trust and to balance the donor-
partner role. Being a seasoned project officer, you know that achieving ecological and social programme goals is influenced by many factors. You understand the complexity and you effectively analyse and
monitor projects. Sensitive to stakeholder interests you are also led by common sense and intuition.
You are passionate and energetic, modest and diplomatic and your speaking and writing is eloquent.
