Who we are and what we do: The Hawk Migration Association of North America (HMANA) was founded in 1974 and works to advance scientific knowledge and promote the conservation of raptor populations through the study, enjoyment, and appreciation of raptor migration. HMANA was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the State of New York and is currently a licensed nonprofit in Michigan. HMANA:
  • Collects hawk count data from over two hundred affiliated raptor monitoring sites throughout North, Central and South America.
  • Manages HawkCount, a near-real-time international database of hawk counts across the continent.
  • Promotes the scientific analysis of hawk count data and generates raptor population assessme
