This is an exciting opportunity for someone to drive our understanding of the dynamics of the Illex argentinus fishery in the South Atlantic with an emphasis on the southern Patagonian stock and the Falkland Islands Conservation Zones. The project will work in close collaboration with Government and Industry. Some of the main accountabilities include:
  • How fishing behaviour/catch is related to Oceanography
  • What affects the inter-annual distribution of Illex abundance in FI zones compared to the wider SWA
  • Whether modelling can be used to predict recruitment success prior to the main Illex season for the region and for the FI
