About the role

GVI is looking for a Senior Program Coordinator who will support the Program Manager and field team at the GVI Seychelles Cap Ternay research station, which is focused on marine conservation. You will facilitate the undertaking of all activities, including monitoring and evaluation, health and safety, as well as staff and volunteer management. The ideal candidate should be flexible thinker and able to think on their feet and adapt according to the situation.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Support the Program Manager in delivering a successful GVI conservation programme with a significant scientific and environmental impact.
  • Ensure a high level of training and development for participants and staff.
  • Maintain current and build new partnerships across the Seychelles.
  • Lead dives such as DAD, science and night dives.
  • Support with new project development and scientific research
  • Ensure all H&S practices are being followed to a high standard and the necessary actions are taken should they not be.
  • Volunteer and Staff Management
  • Motivate and support your volunteer and staff teams
  • Help coordinate activities, side trips and airport transfers for our volunteers and ensure all details are communicated to volunteers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all day-to-day logistics run smoothly.

About you

Professional skills and experience

  • Relevant qualification (BSc/MSc) or 3-5 years of experience in environment-related field.
  • PADI Dive Master or above certification.
  • 1-3 years of Volunteer management experience.
  • Experience in a leadership role.
  • Driving License (manual stick shift vehicles).
  • Proven experience and competence in administration and logistics.
  • Past experience or background in internship coordination and outreach or a similar field.
  • Past volunteer or volunteer management, dive operations and experience of working in remote locations.
  • Available for a 1 year contract.
  • Advantageous:
    • Trained in First Aid and EFR training.
    • RYA PB Level 2 skipper license to allow you to be versatile within the team.
