The Illegal Fishing and Transparency Analyst is responsible for investigative work in support of Oceana’s campaign to end illegal fishing and expand transparency. The analyst conducts research using big data analytics and emerging technologies, including Global Fishing Watch, to support Oceana’s goals. The analyst is responsible for producing published reports, case studies, and other impact products to make positive changes in fisheries policy that help bring back abundance in the world’s fisheries. The analyst needs to have strong technical skills paired with the ability to communicate complex data and technical work into compelling and understandable written and verbal content.
