SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College) is a widely respected higher education institute dedicated to producing specialist research, delivering high quality education and providing comprehensive consultancy services in the rural sector within the UK and beyond. The Department for Rural Economy, Environment and Society is a large interdisciplinary group of economists, social scientists, ecologists and environmental scientists. Our interests are focused on interdisciplinary research related to sustainable ecosystems, as well as the changing role of rural economies and the subsequent impacts for environment, society and food. The department provides a progression path for environmental and agricultural scientists and social-scientists, and conducts research in both localised contexts (Scotland, UK)
