Overview

Job Purpose

Lead the repair degraded ecosystem, designing and implementing ecosystem restoration projects and educating the public on conservation and ecology. Leads the development and dissemination of restoration information.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Leading and supporting ecological restoration and nature based solution to restore degraded arid ecosystem.
  2. Lead the plan, initiate, and lead large scale ecosystem restoration projects in AlUla nature reserves.
  3. Identifying, developing, and securing innovative technologies and tools for ecological restoration of nature reserves and areas beyond nature reserves in AlUla.
  4. Provide inputs to the development of the strategy and action plan for ecosystem restoration and afforestation at AlUla.
  5. Lead the data collection, analyzing ecological restoration data, and lead the design and the development of scientific manuscripts in ecosystem restoration.
  6. Collaborate with other RCU departments to create and implement ecosystem restoration activities and projects.
  7. Lead communication with ecosystem restoration projects partners to ensure reporting of projects progress and project’s success.
  8. Designing and implementing ecosystem restoration projects beyond nature reserves and educating the public on conservation and ecology.
  9. Provide input to the system management plans of nature reserves to ensure their sustainable development.
  10. Leads the development and dissemination of ecosystem restoration information both at local and global level.
  11. Work closely with international organizations to obtain recognition for the ecological restoration projects and ecosystem program at AlUla.
  12. Develop and submit monthly and annual reports to the administration/department.
  13. Perform any other job related duties as required by the direct Manager.

 

Job Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Rangelands, Botony, or relevant filed (Masters Preferred).

Work Experience

  • 8 years’ experience

Other Requirements

  • Written and Oral proficiency of English language.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with the application of remote sensing and GIS in ecosystem restoration.
  • Excellent communication and public outreach skills.
  • Demonstrated work experience on leading projects on ecosystem restoration.
  • Demonstrated work experience on arid land rehabilitations
