Overview

Under supervision from the Manager of Global IT, the desktop analyst performs general troubleshooting and repair of all The School for Field Studies tier 1 issues. Responsible for the maintenance and support of end-users at school headquarters (~25 users, 6 servers) and 9 international field stations (8-15 workstations per site + 1 server per site). This includes maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of school network equipment, network servers, cabling, client computers, printers, peripherals, desktop and network applications, Windows domain infrastructure, and Internet connections.  Brings in reliable, durable & cost-effective solutions for all SFS’s IT related needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn and provide support and advice in Blackbaud database applications
  • Manage & troubleshoot networks and internet connectivity throughout the organization
  • Ability to provide end-user support and issue resolution
  • Interface with vendors for procurement & maintenance
  • Monitor system backups and restore as needed
  • Monitor server based anti-virus system
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging tools and technologies
  • Create and maintain documentation for all IT-related processes and procedures
  • Perform a wide range of duties on all SFS servers at headquarters and ten international field sites including installation, maintenance, upgrades, replacements and general support
  • Proactive monitoring of all servers, applications and services
  • Work closely with the Director of Global IT to discuss the needs of the organization
  • Provide occasional onsite support (at Headquarters) to international users during non-peak office hours
  • Travel to international field sites will be required on an as needed basis

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in IT related field, or equivalent certifications or experience
  • 1-2 years’ experience in desktop support role
  • Knowledge of installations, upgrades and troubleshooting of Windows Server 2008, Active Directory
  • Willingness and ability to learn complex Blackbaud database
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently
  • Reliable transportation for commuting during non-peak office hours
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel to our centers in Australia, Bhutan, Cambodia, Chile, Costa Rica, Kenya, Panama, Peru, Tanzania, and the Turks and Caicos Islands
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Ability to be an effective team member

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • Network+ certification
