Who we are The Environment Approvals Division (EAD) ensures the protection of matters of national environmental significance through its regulatory responsibilities under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and the Environment Protection (Sea Dumping) Act 1981 (Sea Dumping Act). It performs a variety of regulatory, policy, business improvement, governance, and assessment work for the department. There are five branches:
  • Environment Assessments Queensland and Sea Dumping
  • Environment Assessments (NSW, ACT)
  • Environment Assessments West (WA, SA and NT)
  • Environment Assessments (VIC, TAS) and Post Approvals
  • Governance and Reform.
