About the role

GVI supports local organisations but also develops its own programs that aim to assist local communities by actively engaging with quality of life issues, such as childhood education and access to public health information. We want to grow/expand our contribution focusing on education, health, women’s rights and empowerment for people of all ages but especially children. As well as develop strong, meaningful and long-lasting cooperation with local partners by supporting them to achieve their impact goals. Our Cambodia hub is tucked away from main roads and yet within walking distance of everyday amenities and the thriving town centre of Siem Reap.

The goal of the Senior Social Impact Manager is to develop and deliver ethical and impactful community programs and manage the hub’s research and impact reporting. The role reports to the hub’s Program Manager and works closely with GVI’s global Social Impact Director. You will engage with our participants, ensure the hub has robust data collection and reporting systems in place, liaise with local partners, and write reports to communicate project results.

You are passionate about tackling social issues, from health and education to human rights and social-economic development. You believe that how we measure and manage social impact is critical to ensuring sustainable development.

A self-starter who rolls up their sleeves to get things done, and enjoys tackling a wide variety of tasks as part of your day-to-day life. Also has the ability to deeply focus on a project and see it to the end.

What you will do 

  • Lead and support field staff, volunteers and interns to deliver project activities successfully
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating a strong work ethic and respect for different perspectives and cultures
  • Day-to-day liaising with partners to build and maintain relationships, ensuring projects are locally-led and have a maximum positive impact
  • Write up project  documents and impact frameworks that outline project goals, short and long-term outcomes, expected outputs, proposed activities and required resources
  • Develop a monitoring, research and learning strategy; and oversee daily data collection
  • Deliver participant training workshops and oversee participants’ participation in project work and/or research supervision
  • Conduct project evaluations and write up impact reports including results and lessons learnt for each project
  • Develop content that champions local voices and thought pieces on important community issues, create social media content and drive fundraising initiatives
  • Provide information and data relating to research, impact and ethics to Marketing, Sales, Finance and Impact teams in Central Support
  • Own overall impact of the Cambodia operations
  • Act as 2i/c to the PM and oversee the effective day-to-day running of program operations when the PM is away or unavailable

What you will need 


  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in program evaluation, monitoring and evaluation, international development, sociology or equivalent. Relevant experience will be considered in place of a degree.
  • First aid qualifications are advantageous.


  • Analysing and managing large sets of impact-related data and proven ability to leverage data to inform decision-making and implement change.
  • Present information in an insightful and structured manner, both written and oral, including strong storytelling abilities.
  • Organised and able to set up systems for managing data, processes and information.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written), with speaking ability in Cambodian (Khmer) being an advantage.

Desired experience:

  • Community development work  preferably in low-income countries
  • Experience in participatory design and action research advantageous
  • Working with national government agencies, NGOs, communities, social enterprises, academics, working with students or volunteers advantageous
  • Managing research programs and developing research protocols
  • Impact management and experience in monitoring and evaluation
  • Training others or teaching and communicating technical information to non-technical audiences
  • People management experience is advantageous
  • Experience in writing grants or applying for financing is advantageous
