Surrey Wildlife Trust has grown into one the largest wildlife trusts in England over the past 15 years. We manage nearly 5% of the total area of the county and play an important role in advocating for biodiversity in the area. We have 27,000 members and are part of the wider national federation of the Royal Wildlife Trusts. We face challenging and exciting times. As the UK leaves the EU, we expect significant shifts in environmental protection and funding. Our 2017 report on the State of Surrey’s Nature revealed that one third of species in our county are either extinct or threatened. At the same time, the Trust is about to embark on an ambitious five-year strategy that is designed to have maximum impact on biodiversity in Surrey.
